Adrian Coggon

Adrian is a Director Solicitor of John Barkers, Accredited Family Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer.

Adrian has specialised in Family Law matters for over 20 years, offering advice and representation in divorce and separation cases including those relating child arrangements and finances. Adrian has extensive experience in dealing with financial cases of high value including where there are complex business and pension issues.  Adrian also advises on and drafts Pre-Nuptial agreements.

Adrian studied at the University of Hull and graduated in 1999, after which he completed successfully completed the Legal Practice Course in 2000. Adrian has been qualified since 2002 and has since then, practised in Family Law.

Adrian is a member of Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors Family Association), and operates in a constructive and pragmatic way in helping client to reach solutions. In 2022, Adrian was successfully re-accredited by Resolution as a Specialist Family Lawyer.

In addition to his legal practice, Adrian is an experienced Family Mediator, accredited by the Family Mediation Council Accredited to mediate in cases where there are child arrangement and/or financial disputes. He is able to undertake privately funded mediations.

Adrian is very much committed to Alternative Dispute Resolution. He completed his training through Resolution as a Collaborative lawyer in 2008. This process helps clients to finding solutions by agreement to resolve family disputes instead going thorough costly contested court proceedings.

Much of Adrian’s work comes through personal recommendations from previous clients and contacts.

Adrian is a trustee and chairs a student hardship fund at John Leggott Sixth Form College and is a former trustee of Scunthorpe Citizens Advice Bureau
