Emma O'Keeffe
Trainee Solicitor
Emma is a Trainee Solicitor in the Family Department.
Emma has worked at John Barkers since 2007 when she joined as a Legal Secretary in the Conveyancing Department. She then moved over to the Family Department, again working as a Legal Secretary covering work including divorce, matrimonial finances and children matters. In 2011, Emma began working with Senior Director, Howard Field assisting him in child matters covering both private and public law matters. Emma has remained Mr Field’s Personal Assistant since this time specialising primarily in Local Authority issued Care Proceedings and linked public law cases.
Emma obtained her A-Levels at Tollbar Sixth Form College in 2007. In 2017, Emma was given the opportunity to enrol on the Solicitor Apprenticeship Scheme and is now in her final year of studying the Level 7 Apprenticeship with the BPP Law School in Leeds. She is currently preparing for her SQE Exams which will take place later this year.
Emma is very committed to her work and strives to achieve the best for her clients. Her work frequently involves very sensitive issues and Emma is always alive to this and has an empathetic approach when advising clients.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys eating out with family and friends in her spare time. She has also recently joined a local gym and is enjoying a new more active lifestyle.
